2011 Oscar Winners

Announced 27 February 2011

There are always surprises on Oscar Nominations Day and Oscar Night, the night that the Academy Awards are presented. And the only surprise on Oscar Night 2011 was that The King's Speech didn't 'sweep' the awards. While it won the four biggest awards, it hardly captivated the voters' pens. The movie Inception and The King's Speech walked away with four Oscars each, but The King's Speech captivated the hearts and minds of the Oscar voters winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay. Beat that any other movie of 2010.

BEST ACTRESS ACADEMY AWARD 2011 PREDICTIONS
- Natalie Portman, Black Swan; Nicole Kidman, Rabbit Hole. Michelle Williams, Blue Valentine; Lesley Manville, Another Year; Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right.

Either Jennifer Lawrence or Halle Berry have a slight chance at kicking Nicole Kidman out of the independent film slot for Best Actress, for their roles in Winter's Bone and Frankie & Alice, respectively. Julianne Moore may take the place of Lesley Manville, since the movie Another Year is one of the most unseen, underrated movies of 2010.

While these names were pandered about for a while, before the movies in which the actresses were released, the movies have come and gone and/or are such critical duds, they won't have a chance: Anne Hathaway for "Love & Other Drugs." Sally Hawkins for "Made In Dagenham." Diane Lane for "Secretariat." Naomi Watts for "Fair Game" and, yes, we say Gwyneth Paltrow for her role in the horrid "Country Song."
